Riviera Concert Brass started in 2005 and was the brainchild of ex members of the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Band which unfortunately had to disband. RCB is a friendly non contesting band which is inclusive of all ages and standards. We are currently about 40 strong and work hard to provide the best experience for our audiences and clients.

We are lucky to have a great relationship with Combe Pafford School where we rehearse as a full band on alternate Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. On the other Wednesday, we have a learners group and opportunity for people to play in a smaller ensemble to develop their skills. We are proud that a number of players from this group have now transferred to our main band and have even had success in ABRSM exams.

We have an active ‘Friends of the Band’ group. If you contact us, we can sign you up for this and will let you know details of our concerts and events and keep you abreast of any changes to performances. There is no charge for this.

As a Band, we have a simple ethos where we want to enjoy music making together as an ensemble whilst raising money for charities. We pride ourselves on organising and tailoring concerts for various charities and have helped organisations by raising thousands of pounds to help their work. Since it’s formation, the Band has raised in the region of £65,500 for charity. Last year alone we raised around £4,500.

Some of the charities and organisation we have helped over the years are: Aberfan Memorial, Ageing Well Torquay, AIMS (Dawlish Special Needs Group), Army Benevolent Fund, Cancer Research UK, Chernobyl Aid Devon, Contact Centre TorquayChildrens Hospital South West, Devon Community Foundation, Friends of Torre Abbey, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Help for Heroes, HMS Ceylon Association, Lions Club Jersey, Macmillan Cancer Relief, National Home Guard Memorial, Normandy Veterans Association Torquay, Plymouth Royal Naval Association, Rowcroft Hopsice Torquay, Royal British Legion, Salvation Army, Save the Children, South West Childrens Heart Circle, St Marychurch Traders, Torbay Freemans Golden Jubilee Fund, Torbay Prostate Support, Towersey Foundation, Wooden Spoon.
