Bernard Ryan (Eb bass). Bernard was born in Chard, Somerset and on marriage migrated to Saltash. Another ‘retired’ leftover from the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Band, his interests include Saltash Town Band, family history and the adventures of ‘Rosie’.

Chris Wilson (Eb bass). Chris learnt to play at the age of 8 in the Young Peoples Band at Exeter Temple Salvation Army. He progressed right through to playing with the senior band for 35 years. During his time with the Salvation Army, Chris was appointed Assistant Young Peoples Band Leader and then became the main leader. Chris played with the City of Exeter Railway Band for 10 years and was also their secretary. Chris continues to play Eb bass with Exeter Temple Band and with us and his daytime occupation is a painter and decorator which is the trade he learnt when leaving school.

Tony Knowles (Eb bass). Tony was born in Newton Abbot and learnt to play in the local Salvation Army Band. Before he retired, he was a local government officer. He now enjoys caravanning, music, photography and cricket. Tony has played for Newton Abbot Salvation Army, Exeter Temple SA Band, Torbay Brass Band and Totnes Town Band. He is married to Janet and has three grown up sons.

Mick Bolton (Bb bass). Mick was born in Nelson, Lancashire but learnt to play in the Dartmouth Borough Band. He honed his skills in the Royal Army Service Corps Staff Band. Mick has had a variety of playing opportunities and played with the Morris Motors Band and with the Alder Valley Brass Band (Aldershot) for 40 years. Mick plays with RCB and with the Royal Naval Volunteer Band at Britannia Naval College. He enjoys most sports and says, “there is no one quite like me!”
